“This web seminar, available to a worldwide audience, addresses the growing trend replacing animal-derived materials with synthetic alternatives to create defined and reproducible microenvironments and cell-based assays,” stated Zen Chu, President and Co-founder of 3DM Inc. “Research leaders at the NIH and big pharma state that a high priority has been placed on defined cell culture reagents to lend better control over experiments and forward compatibility with in vivo experiments. We believe that PuraMatrix™ will be a key enabler of this trend.”

The National Institutes of Health has recently announced creation of a Nanomedicine Roadmap Initiative along with Nanomedicine Development Centers. These initiatives will focus on nanotechnology applications to enable new modes of in medical research and clinical treatment. PuraMatrix™ nano-fibrillar scaffolds, too small to be made by any process other than molecular self-assembly, are critical to these initiatives. Numerous NIH grants have been awarded to studies centered around the use of PuraMatrix™ scaffolds.

“Over the past two years, PuraMatrix™ has become the best-selling synthetic scaffold for in vitro and in vivo drug discovery research world wide.” stated Dr. Shuguang Zhang, Director of the Lab for Molecular Self-Assembly at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  “PuraMatrix™, and its family of customizable self-assembling peptides, was carefully designed as an ideal biocompatible synthetic scaffold, compatible across the entire range of drug discovery and clinical delivery applications. The success of PuraMatrix™ by the drug discovery and bioproduction community has validated PuraMatrix™’s advantages and the key requirement for 3-C cell culture techniques.”

About PuraMatrix™

PuraMatrix™ Synthetic Peptide Hydrogels are the best-selling synthetic scaffolds for cell culture and bioproduction research, and have won numerous scientific awards. PuraMatrix™ gels consist of smart polymers, self-assembling in cell culture or in vivo to create biocompatible nanofiber scaffolds to facilitate healthy cell growth and tissue regeneration. PuraMatrix™ is currently in animal testing for orthopedics, cardiac and other medical device and drug delivery applications. PuraMatrix™ is used by most of the leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic laboratories and has been featured in over twenty premier scientific journal publications. R&D Magazine recently awarded PuraMatrix™ its 42nd annual R&D 100 Prize as one of the most significant new products to impact life science and medical research.
